Because it takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds the additional time has to be adjusted. The usual time is adjusted through leap months . First adjustment is through odd months which are 31 days. Second adjustment is 28 29 and 30 days of February in alternating years. The last adjustment is done of years which is done through adding 8 years after each 31033 years. So this adjustment was done in 2016 which then became the year 2024. In this way the real effective year is 2017 and not 2025 which one might be wondering as become so much older at once.
